Healthy & Happy - Intuitive Eating

Intuitive eating was developed in 1995 by two dietitians and is an evidence based, non-diet and weight inclusive approach to eating. The intuitive eating framework supports you in becoming more attune with your body’s own hunger and fullness signals, rather than using external factors to determine your food choices and helps to improve your relationship with food.

Intuitive eating is associated with the following health benefits:

  • Greater body appreciation and satisfaction

  • Positive emotional function

  • Greater life satisfaction

  • Unconditional self-respect

  • Greater motivation to exercise

  • Lowers disordered and emotional eating

  • Better understanding of internal cues

  • Improved nutrient intake

  • Eating a wider variety of foods

  • Reduces the binge/restrict cycle
