David, lets talk about mental health…

1. What is mental health?
A state of wellbeing is when an individual realises their own ability & can cope with the normal stresses of life; when this is too much, this can lead mental illness.
2. What one thing would you like the team to remember about mental health?
Mental health can affect anyone at any time, there’s no shame in asking for help. It’s always better to ask someone ‘how they are?’ twice to show you’re willing to listen.
3. How has COVID-19 impacted mental health awareness?
Yes, it’s harder now for people to get help, more so if you’ve had COVID because of the post traumatic stress. A lot of us rely on gyms & exercise to keep our stress levels low, this has had an impact due to closures.
4. Why should people look after their mental wellbeing?
It’s equally as important as physical health; positive mental health enables you to function well & have meaningful social connections. Positive self-esteem will also help to cope with life’s ups & downs…
