National Tofu Day! Try Our GEC Black Pepper Tofu Recipe!




GEC Black Pepper Tofu - Serves 4


To Prepare the Tofu


Ingredients

  • 400g firm tofu

  • 1 tablespoon of cornflower

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 3 tablespoons oil


The Sauce


Ingredients

  • 1 red onion, sliced

  • 6 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 red chilis, sliced

  • 1 tablespoon ginger paste

  • 4 teaspoons of light soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon coarsely ground black pepper

  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

  • 1/4 cup water + 1 tablespoon cornflower

  • 6 spring onions, cut into 3cm strips



Method

  1. Dice the tofu into 2.5 cm cubes and dust with cornflour

  2. Fry until golden brown and then drain on kitchen paper

  3. Stir fry the sliced red onions, then add the garlic, ginger and chilli

  4. Pour in the vinegar and sugar followed by the cornflour and water mix

  5. Add the fried tofu to the sauce, then mix in the spring onions and serve!
