Too Good To Go

We have implemented TGTG at some of our sites with the aim to reduce food waste which currently stands at a staggering 3.5 tonnes globally every day! Too Good To Go is the world’s largest marketplace for connecting users with commercial outlets to save perfectly good food from going to waste.
Meet our Account Executive Es
1. How has everything been for TGTG since lock down?
For our users, we launched a collection of easy cook at home recipes, promoted a food waste poetry competition, and provided waste-prevention tips and tricks to ensure people could make the most of their supermarket shops.
Meanwhile, we did our best to support the hospitality industry by setting up a ‘Support Local’ scheme - this gave businesses the opportunity to sell regular, takeaway food using our app.
2. How do you think things will look after the lockdown?
It’s going to be a lot harder for hospitality businesses to predict demand. With no relevant historical data to work off, they’re going to have to learn and adapt to new consumer patterns quickly. Also, social distancing measures will mean many will be running with smaller occupancies and therefore smaller margins. Food waste has never made sense - but it will be a particularly hard cost to justify in the post-Covid era.
3. What opportunities do you predict in the future?
For so long, food waste has been seen as an inevitable ‘status quo’ - both within food businesses, and within households - despite the fact that it’s one of the most pressing problems facing our environment.
But during lockdown, we ran a survey which revealed that 9 in 10 Brits are now aware of how much they are throwing away. This indicates a positive opportunity for increased action around food waste prevention in the future.
4. What advice would you give to anyone wanting to help reduce food waste?
Set yourself up for success with solid planning. Plan your meals out
before your supermarket shop, and buy only what you need. It sounds simple, but this is without question the best place to start.
